Sara Schwegerl
Born and raised in Sitka Alaska, but a resident of Chico CA since 2012, Sara has a heart for the natural and wild world. Working for the Department of Fish & Wildlife for many years was deeply fulfilling as a Fish & Wildlife Technician and gave her everything she thought she wanted mentally and physically. It took her to many beautiful places including the Middle East to study. But through many hardships, grief, and illness, in 2014 she contracted West Nile virus through a mosquito bite, leaving her deathly ill, multiple brain hemorrhages, weakened motor skills and speech impairment. This journey invited her to take a different route and make radical changes. She began an intense journey that led her down a rabbit hole of holistic healing and connecting back with her spiritual practices, indigenous wisdom and roots of Alaska. Through this journey Sara found her place in the natural world with deep reverence in herbal wisdom, music, movement, community & art. Now recovered & owning her own business for over 5 years, known as "The Rabbit Hole", it is her mission to share all she holds close to her heart with her community.
Sara sees yoga and movement as a celebration of what the body can do and express and believes everyone has a place here no matter what your limitations are. She became certified through Yoga Alliance, at Empower Hot Yoga in 2025 to deepen and expand her knowledge and practice.
